peep, peep
today's visit to darby farms was well worth the drive. after seeing dan's simple, clean, and easy-to-manage greenhouse brooder model, we chalked our initial plans of building a stand alone wooden structure with a tin roof, and decided to clear out a section of our greenhouse instead.
here is dan's pictured below:
one of the five covered hoop houses that came with our property was filled with what seems to be a decade's worth of seeding and transplanting gear amongst piles of irrigation supplies and empty pots. the best find? a dusty boom box and a few reggae casettes which have quickly become our default constant soundtrack in the fields.
although we intend to put use to this greenhouse for growing our own transplants from seed later in the season, we have opted to purchase our transplants from a grower as we put our energies into other much needed clean-up projects and field preparations instead. with the arrival of the chickens in the next day or two, we will transform what quickly became our "storage" greenhouse into a warm, dry, and chicken filled oasis.
but for now, it looks like this...
